I can hardly type the word above without getting teary-eyed. This has been a year with so much to be thankful for. We are blessed by the people that have been placed in our path, and we are blessed to be living the desires of our hearts. We had a lovely and delicious Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends in Georgia: And were delighted to return home to see all that Dan had accomplished in our absence:

The chickens thoroughly enjoyed the larval treats we found for them while peeling bark from the trees Lance and Dan cut last fall.
Thanks to Tom, organizer of Community First Marion County and our fairy godfather, we have 3 new family members - Henrietta, Penelope, and Bitey the rooster. Lance built them a little strawbale hut just outside our back door.
The kitchen is coming along - we have an indoor sink and stove now. Lance is working on putting in the cistern to hold rain that collects from the roof and will eventually put a hose into the house so we no longer have to haul water from the neighbors'. He finished the benches under our loft bed, and it's awfully nice to be able to eat around a table again!
After my parents visited us, they headed down to Florida for a cruise (getting out of there just before Hurricane Sandy hit) and then stopped back by our property to check out our progress (and have some fun at the Creative Discovery Museum):
After a few nights on the floor, Lance built the boys their awesome quad-bunk and yesterday he finished our also-awesome loft bed (I have always wanted a loft bed!). Today I dug a huge fire pit and worked on moving the outdoor kitchen indoors - still a ways to go on that.
Sorry for being lazy and not rotating the pictures. |
